When I set out to write a book about the natural history of breasts, I knew I'd have to answer some awkward questions about my book topic. At a...

A very intriguing book, indeed. I didn't always love it, true, but this was unlike anything I've ever read before -- and that fact alone makes this book extraordinary. This is a very visceral, completely story that will strike a chord with anyone who thinks they've seen all there is to be had from the vampire fiction genre.

This was a really good book -- well-written, entertaining, and emotionally charged. I read it quickly, enjoying every moment. I was particularly taken with how skillfully the characters are developed, especially the main female protagonist, Tara Jean. There was a lot of subtly there, poignant hints at her back story, her journey, her psyche. Really, this author is very clever in how she spins a tale. I was definitely hooked, and I look forward to the next book in this series.
This series is absolutely brilliant. Each book is better than the next, and the wait between is downright painful. If you haven't read this series -- or anything else by this author -- you're truly missing out.
I absolutely loved the first Charley Davidson book, so I was happy to find this little gem. Mind you, I don't often bother with these in-betweeners, even with the series I love most. Honestly, I was expecting a few pages of pointless fluff. I guess I'd forgotten just how entertaining Darynda Jones can be, be it with a full novel or a shorty.
It's a good thing I read this behind a closed door because I was giggling like an idiot the entire time. Darynda makes the most of every page, kicking the story off in high gear from the very start and keeps things lively until the last word. There's charm, there's humor, there's even a bit of spice (cough Reyes cough), and it's the perfect appetizer while I wait to get my hands on the second novel.
If you're new to this series, this could be a good intro since the overall premise is nicely explained without relying too much on backstory. And for those of you who've read the first book, you'll appreciate viewing Charley from the ghost's perspective.
