Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
Into the Wild

Tomabob, August 31, 2012

Krakauer manages to write a wonderfully researched book on the adventure that one young man takes into the wilderness of Alaska. He supplements the story with other people's stories to better illustrate McCandless' thoughts and actions. It was hard for me to put this book down. I knew what happened, yet Krakauer revealed things at an appropriate pace so that you did not get bored as the book went on.

Mother of the Believers: A Novel of the Birth of Islam by Kamran Pasha
Mother of the Believers: A Novel of the Birth of Islam

Tomabob, August 27, 2012

Pasha managed to beautifully tell the true story of the birth of Islam and the affects it had on those closest to Muhammad and the citizens of the peninsula. He told the story not in a biographical way, but in the way fiction stories are written, yet keeping to the true account.

Hadassah: One Night with the King by Tommy Tenney
Hadassah: One Night with the King

Tomabob, August 15, 2012

This is an amazing telling of the story of Esther. Tenney packs it with historical facts to make the story come alive in your mind, drawing you into the book and not letting you put the book down. I have completely fallen in love with the story of Esther through this telling of it. :)
