While this is a titillating book, Bill Schutt does a great job of explaining the hard science behind those that feed on blood. I learned so much, and found myself compelled to look further for information. Ever heard of a "Ghost Moose"? How about a Galapagos finch that has adopted a blood-drinkng lifestyle? And, you will definitely feel crawly when you learn about all of the smaller creatures that feast on the blood or cellular contents of animals, especially when they chow down on humans.

Bruce Wampold eloquently discusses how the most important factor in therapist/client relationships is not the treatment options (cognitive/behavioral, Gestalt, talk, medication), but the relationship between the counselor and client, and their mutual belief that the methods they employ "together" will be effective. My husband and I read this book a while ago, and learned a lot. Recently my husband, a therapist, attended a training at a local medical insurance provider's offices. Most of the training was centered on how important is the therapist/client relationship, with frequent citations from 'The Great Psychotherapy Debate'. What a wonderful book!
My husband and I read this book when it first came out. We can not stop referring to it, especially the parts about how the relationship between therapist and client is the gist of successful therapy, and more important than any treatment modality.
