This sounds like a perfect book for my elementary library, both as a read-aloud and for individual students to borrow and enjoy. Reading about it makes ME want to read it!
This sounds like a book of real substance!! The picture on the dust jacket immediately got my attention, since we have been blessed to have been "owned" by 2 mixed border collies for 14 and 17 years. I applaud the author for delving into the question of the "soulfulness" of animals. Animals enrich our lives in so many ways. What a worthwhile topic to ponder!

This is an incredible book to share with children (and adults) of any age. As wonderful as Eric Carle's original book is, the pop-up illustrations only serve to enhance this 40-year-old (can it be??) story. Truly amazing! Makes a wonderful gift for book lovers of all ages.

What a joy to see the Charley Harper's uniquely simplistic illustrations made available for young children! You won't find another ABC book that comes close to this one! His depictions of animals, especially birds, are memorable.
