This is a wonderful reference book for natives, returnees, and those new to the Northwest Coast. It explains the natural history of the coast in detail and I find myself returning to it again and again for an explanation of the things I see on my walks. Where else would I learn that in the forest behind my house slugs are 50 pounds to the acre! (No wonder our Dahlias are constantly under siege!) My advice is to get a copy of this out-of-print book while it's available.
