Each book in this series comes with new surprises, and this one is no exeption. (No spoilers here, but let's just say it has to do with Roger's geneology.) Ms. Gabaldon is one of the VERY few modern writers who actually know how to write. Her research is extensive, and her style is scholarly, without being in the least boring. I highly recommend the entire series, including "An Echo in the Bone"!
