I'm generally skeptical of self-help books, especially the ones that are broken down into each day's thought, throughout the year. I wouldn't have picked up this book if I hadn't experienced Mark Nepo's caring wisdom in a Yoga class. As we were in savasana, the instructor read a passage called "Love Like Water," and as the words washed over me, my first thought was "What is that book and how can I get a copy?" (OKay, so I have problems with attachment.)
Ever since then -- for six months -- I have incorporated this book into my daily meditation/journaling process. Every day, his reading is a gem in my day. There's real substance, not new-agey platitudes, in Nepo's work. No matter what issues I'm struggling with or what kind of day I'm having, his words seem to cut to my core and offer genuine guidance.
I've since used a handful of readings from this book in the small groups that I lead, so great is my desire to share this treasure with other people. If you consider yourself to be on a spiritual journey of any kind, this book will bring you to a deeper place on that path.
