Another great book by Lauren Oliver. I really enjoyed Leisel & Po and was excited when I learned that she had a new MG book called The Spindlers being released Fall 2012. I was thrilled when an Advanced Reader's Edition from the publisher arrived in my mailbox from a contest that I had entered.

I really enjoyed the book and will be recommending it to MG readers at the library where I work. This would make a great read-aloud or book club read for children 8+ and there is a wonderful discussion guide for it on Lauren Oliver's website ( I was so interested in learning more about an audio version that I did a little internet research and found a sample of the audio by Simon Vance, the narrator for the audio book. After listening to the sample, I almost wish I hadn't read the book.

I love Liza's fingerless gloves (shown on the cover) and like that the book could be tied into a beginners knitting class....we could knit while listening to the audio book!

City of Women by David R Gillham

I'll admit the cover was what drew me to this book when I first saw it on a website advertising upcoming titles. Then I read a little about it...a story set in Germany during World War II told from a woman's perspective but written by a man...okay, this was definately going on the TBR list. I patiently waited for the release date and then for the library to catalog the book. Finally, it arrived and it was worth the wait. One of the best books I've read this year.....and it has a pretty cover.

Great Southern Lit! I picked up this book because I needed to read a paperback to complete our library's summer reading program. Little did I know that it would turn out to be the best book I'd read all summer. This would make a great book discussion group read.

The Road to Grace by Richard Paul Evans
The Road to Grace

A good selection for someone looking for good clean fiction and a "must read" for anyone who has read the first two books in the WALK series. I would not recommend reading this without having first read the other two books. One of the things I enjoy most about the stories is discovering back roads America. I'd probably never have known about Wall Drug or the Mark Twain Museum if I hadn't listened to this book. Richard Paul Evans narrated the audiobook and did an excellent job.

The Professionals by Owen Laukkanen
The Professionals

Yvonne Jefferson, April 23, 2012

Great reading entertainment with big screen potential. The Professionals was my book-of-the-week for my daily 30-60 minute stationary bike ride and was a great choice. The frequent scene changes (3-6 page chapters) kept my eyes off the clock and the story moving forward. The characters were believeable and I wasn't sure who I liked more the kidnappers or the cops. It would make a great take-on-vacation read and I'll be recommending it to friends.
