I am so inspired by this book I can't read it before going to bed or I can't sleep! Each author shares from her creative process in a clear and inviting manner and the quilts themselves are absolutely stunning! Reaching new horizons both in quilting and in creative collaboration.
This is Ferraris' second book and I loved it so much I am getting her first. Veiled City is a surprising combination of cultural insight, love story, human emotion and CSI mystery. Set in Saudi Arabia, with roughly equal numbers of male and female characters, the reflections on, joy from and struggles with the abiding cultural/religious setting are prevalent for both men and women. At different moments, the homicide investigation is aided or thwarted by the cultural structure. And despite the many differences from North American life, I was left at the end with an experience of shared humanity. Very well written.
Powell's City of Books is an independent bookstore in Portland, Oregon, that fills a whole city block with more than a million new, used, and out of print books. Shop those shelves — plus literally millions more books, DVDs, and eBooks — here at Powells.com.
