Tricks by Ellen Hopkins
Tricks

aliciawright2012, July 29, 2011

All of Ellen Hopkins books are raw, and so heart wrenching, this book especially. This story is about people who turn "tricks" in other words, they sell themselves sexually in order to make a living. We follow the lives of people who sell them self in order to stay alive, some of them like what they do, while others hate it. This book can be graphic, but it is written so beautifully. I recommend reading any of Ellen Hopkins books.

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott
Living Dead Girl

aliciawright2012, July 29, 2011

This book was simply haunting. I could not stand it, yet I loved it at the same time. This book is hard to read, because you wish so badly to help the main character. In parts, this book is disturbing, but I believe that that is what makes this book so amazing. The story is about a small child being kidnapped, and living with her kidnapper as we see the abuse she goes through and how she struggles to be set free. This book is chilling, and somehow made me happy when it ended.

Love You Hate You Miss You by Elizabeth Scott
Love You Hate You Miss You

I absolutely LOVE all of Elizabeth Scott's books, she is an amazing author. This story really hit close to home for me. The story tells of a girl who lost her best friend, and doesn't really know how to deal with it. We read the story of her journey through mourning and see how she can't seem to accept that her friend’s death wasn't her fault. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I would recommend not on Love You Hate You Miss You to a friend, but any of Elizabeth Scott's books in general.

The Blue Girl (Firebird) by Charles de Lint
The Blue Girl (Firebird)

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a little hard to follow at some parts, but in the end it was worth it. The story is sick and twisted, and just comes to life right before your eyes. I was happy with this book, and would recommend it to a friend.
