I read this book with a group of pre-school children. They fell in love with it. They made text to self connections. They also had fun acting out the story. Three children came to the front of the room and played the parts of the baby owls. When it came their turn, they "read" their parts superbly. They had so much fun with the book I had to read it each day for a whole week having different students come up and act out the parts. This book is wonderfully written and illustrated. I believe that children of all ages would enjoy it. It is a great book to talk to children about fear. They can relate to the owls fear of missing their mother.
