This was by far the best book I read in 2012. The whole "A Song of Ice and Fire" series is incredible, and this is my favorite book. Full of action, plot twists, and the most shocking scene in a novel that I've ever read. (Those who have read this book know of what I speak).

I highly recommend this series, but be prepared to lose a year of your life to the fight for Westeros!

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire #1) by George R. R. Martin
A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire #1)

By far, the best book I read this year! GRRM has ruined other fiction for me - I now expect other authors to kill off major characters at a moment's notice, and it just doesn't happen. I honestly care about these characters, because I honestly don't know who's going to survive! Highly recommended. (However, any potential readers should be warned that this book would be rated R if it was a movie - definitely not for kids.)
