Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Water for Elephants

b_brekke, January 8, 2009

Loved the book and our book club is discussing it tonight. As for the question by one reader: what is the significance of the title? Good question, and I pondered that myself. I came up with this: water for elephants is a necessity and a kindness. Extend that to a metaphor for human interaction as well as human/animal interaction -- we all need the "water" of love and caring. Sara Gruen, what do you think of that?
