I read Mrs. Vallejo’s book in one sitting; she describes a realistic thin historical slice in an eyewitness account of the cocaine trade in Colombia and its master distributor of all times. At sixty-eight, I find myself observing the demographic expansion and, also, the use of recreational drugs in a world full of fantasy and noise; there’s no end to it as reality gets ignored more and more.
