Manhunt: The Twelve-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer (P.S.) by James L Swanson
Manhunt: The Twelve-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer (P.S.)

bhc, January 2, 2012

Of the 30 or so books read in 2011, this one (Manhunt: The Twelve-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer by James Swanson) was my favorite. So much more information than what my history lessons taught me so long ago. We all learned Lincoln was killed at Ford's Theater and John Wilkes Boothe did it. I never knew JWB made (several) threats on Lincoln's life. If anyone would have taken his threats seriously, that black day in history would have never happened. I was never taught it took 12 days to hunt JWB down and make him pay for his crime. This is the way history should be taught !!

The Last Season (P.S.) by Eric Blehm
The Last Season (P.S.)

bhc, January 28, 2011

After 27 years, as an experienced park ranger, Randy Morgenson leaves base camp and disappears while on patrol in the high country of Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park. I was hooked on this book (The Last Season) from the beginning. It was easy to read and kept my attention to the bitter end. Eric Blehm did an outstanding job researching and telling Randy's story.
