This is an excellent, beautifully written book.
Anyone who is a foster parent, is thinking about becoming a foster parent, or works with foster or adopted children should read this book. It tells the story through the child's eyes. Truly, our children all have threads linking them to their past, culture and heritage. To deny our children this is a terrible crime. As an adoptive mother, I hope that I can give my son the tools he needs to understand that thread and the horrible events that brought his mother to the place where she could not safely parent him. Deep love exists between a mother and child, even when the mother fails at providing a safe home for the child.
As I read this book, I could not help but think of the children I have fostered. I so hope I gave them the tools they need to stay linked to the thread that gives them roots.
