This is a story narrated by elephants. With elephant vocabulary and perspectives, we humans are given a beautiful and heart wrenching view into another world. A really wonderful book.

This is a beautiful book worth reading twice. Every character won my heart as they grapple with love, war, mystery, and even a miracle. I cannot recommend it more!

A fantastic book! Narrated by death; a story about life. This book respects the intellect of younger readers and challenges the imagination of older folks. Zusak creates beautiful relationships and imagery - playing with words in ways that evoke laughter, tears, and a maybe even a deeper understanding of life itself. One of my all time favorite reads!

While shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, I would not have read Arthur & George had it not been for the suggestion of some friends. The verdict: take the advise of others and read this book! Julian Barnes is a true artisan with words. Along with the fantastic character development of Arthur and George, Barnes brings Sherlock Holmes alive once again.

Well, it is a quick read. There is decent development of the main character, while the others are a bit unidimensional. I was left feeling frustrated at the lack of wisdom of the characters. Maybe that signifies good writing. I did appreciate the focus on the struggles involved with illiteracy - it gave me some insight. Overall, however, I wasn't that impressed.
