Several published quotes atest to this book's usefulness and quality. They are all true. I used this book on my first trip to Kaua'i and it was by far the best of the books I brought with me. The place that we stayed had 2 copies on it's bookshelf! The authors are meticulous in their research, accept no advertising, are brutally honest (and accurate) in their reviews - both positive and negative, and have the knowledge and cultural awareness of those who have lived there for a long time. Other guides will tell you about the high-dollar resorts and activities that, frankly, could be found anywhere in the world. This book tells you how to go about finding the true Kaua'i and the true aloha spirit for yourself through adventure and exploration. The authors also let you know that things change rather quickly, and that they are prepared to help you keep up with this change by providing a great web site that has updates to the published volumes - for free! If you have only one book along with you, this is the one you need.
