Most Wanted Man is scary as hell. i know it’s just fiction, but i always read Le Carre’s novels as journalistic reportages. In this case, the troubles stay in our home, right in Europe, where different intelligence services pull togheter to stop potential islamic-terroristic activities in the name of global security. It doesn’t matter if the suspects are innocent. Secret intelligence is depicted as a dangerous role-play led by the americans. True or not, the novel is masterly written and the rithm never bore you. Hoping for a wide-screen version, I suggest this book to everyone.

El sol de Breda is what they commonly define as an “action-book”. The spanish siege of the town of Breda in 1625 is epically told in first person by the youngest soldier of the troop. A very simple plot is counterbalanced with beautiful and enthralling descriptions of battles, duels and ambushes. The course of events is made precious with many various quotes from poets of that age. This expedient, as much the detailed realism, contibute to make the third episode of Capitàn Alatriste’s saga not only a pure-entertainment novel but also a historical novel abounding in real anecdots. “Honor” is the book’s dominant topic, but the author treats this theme without making the story boring or unworthfully rethoric.
