Eighteen Acres by Nicolle Wallace
Eighteen Acres

cccleveland, March 13, 2013

For all those liberals out there do not be dismayed by Nicolle Wallace being a key figure in the McCain/Palin ticket. As a fellow liberal there was only one or two instances where there was a whisper of partisan ideology. That aside this book was a fantastic read for all those who enjoy a good story line and politics.

The Essential Feminist Reader (Modern Library Classics) by Estelle B. Freedman
The Essential Feminist Reader (Modern Library Classics)

cccleveland, March 9, 2013

This book is essential to understanding the first, second and third wave feminist movement. This book is filled with important women who contributed to the movement and the writings they put forth to stimulate the mind and make you reconsider how you view the world. Works include Simone de Beauvoir's "The Second Sex" Henrik Ibsen "The Doll House", Susan B Anthony "Social Purity", and of course an excerpt from Betty Friedan's "The Feminine Mystique" are just a few of the writings you get to explore.
Reading this book changes how you look at the world and forces you to think of concepts that you had never considered before. For anyone who was ever interested in feminism this is THE book to begin your education into the movement.
