Roots: The Saga of an American Family by Alex Haley
Roots: The Saga of an American Family

ceefor, October 14, 2009

As an avid reader, I find there are just too many books on the planet to warrant spending time to read any given book twice. In my recent reading history, the only book I have gone over more than once is Alex Haley's 'Roots'.

An absolutely enchanting story from start to finish, you get truly sucked in to 'Roots' as it elicits strong emotions to what his ancestors went through. It made me smile, worry, cry, scared and proud all at once. I'm actually from Australia and have no connection to this American story, but the way Haley tells it, it can cross any cultural border.

An absolute must-read, and my personal favourite book in my collection.
