This is an intriquing read about a forgotten hero of the cold war and his efforts to right the wrongs that were taking place far from his comfortable Texas home and life style. Charlie Wilson had the intestinal fortitude to take a situation that was being ignored on all fronts in Congress and make it his personal project to right the wrongs that were taking place. With the help of CIA agent Gust Avratokos he was able to help an underdog defeat the mighty villian that was the Soviet Union. The only downside of his endeavors was that he also armed and trained the Talliban and gave them the confidence to become what they are today, terrorists. A very enlightening book that gives all of us a lesson on how we should do what is necessary to make the world a better place, no matter how small our efforts may seem.
