This is the story of a scientist's long association with Alex, the African Grey parrot she studied for 30 years. Alex did not just "parrot" an amazing vocabulary. He demonstrated an ability to think, feel, and yes, even love. Recommended!

This is another mind-bending read from Jonathan Carroll, master of magical realism and the "urban fantasy" genre. Complete with a talking dog, this novel kept me intrigued through its many twists and turns.

This book gives a hilarious peek at a mindset that believes that true happiness is available as long as you have the right accessories. In this case, the right accessory is the Birkin, which (who knew?) is the world's most desirable handbag. The author has made a mini-career out of helping people bypass the wait list to get their Birkins. His exploits make for a very entertaining read.

There are multiple recipes for every vegetable I know in this cookbook, with many variations and substitutions for creative cooks. The recipes are clearly written, with easily accessible ingredients. I reach for it all the time!

This book is bound be of interest to readers of Ramana Maharishi, Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, and other spiritual teachers that focus on living in the "now." Nirmala's writing is hardly esoteric. His advice is resonant and practical.
