The Seals on the Bus by Lenny Hort
The Seals on the Bus

We found this at the library a while back and my girls loved it. I'm finally remembering to buy our own copy!

It's such a cute simple book but one that toddlers and preschooler find more relevant; mine know animal noises much better than anything a bus driver would say. It also sticks in your head a bit, helping me, at least, with late night lullabies for grumpy babies.

Michael Tolliver Lives (P.S.) by Armistead Maupin
Michael Tolliver Lives (P.S.)

When I heard that Mouse lived and had a whole book about him, I rushed out and got it. I was NOT disappointed. Life in the Castro has changed in 00's, but it still serves as a great backdrop for a funny, sad, witty, enjoyable look at the 28 Barbary Lane family.

Who's That Baby?: New-Baby Songs
Who's That Baby?: New-Baby Songs

This is a cute book with attractive illustrations. However, it is much more of a poem book than a song book. The author gives no clue how the songs should be sung, so the first few times I "read" it, my daughter and I stumbled over how each page should go. (I'm not the best singer so help is important to me.)

On the bright side, many of the poems are very cute and easy to remember. My 3 year-old still loves to recite "Leaky Baby" to her 6 month-old sister.
