Bossypants. Tina Fey
Bossypants. Tina Fey

cooperstory, January 4, 2012

Has to be one of my favorite reads of 2011. I always suspected Tina Fey was really smart, and here's proof. These essays exemplify not only her humor, but also her brain power. There's a lot of wisdom in these pages. One of my favorites is the prayer for her daughter--both witty and wise.

The Bible Salesman
The Bible Salesman

cooperstory, September 3, 2008

My favorite scene is the one in which Henry, the youthful Bible salesman, has been asked to bury a farmwife's beloved cat. The cat has a snake stuck in its mouth, and its head is swollen to the size of a melon. Henry is trying to keep the woman from seeing the grusome corpse.

The Third Angel: A Novel

The perfect book for a summer afternoon. At the heart of this story of love gone wrong is a 12-year-old girl searching for something to believe in.

The Writing Class by Jincy Willett
The Writing Class

Great mystery! I love a mystery that keeps me guessing and surprises me at the end. Amy, the writing teacher, would be a fun teacher to have, just as long as my classmates didn't start dying.

I loved Gilmour's commentary on the films he and his son watched together--very insightful.
