Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose is an accessible book about American exploration. I had the chance to learn about the Missouri Valley and the Columbia River while the Osage, Sioux, Blackfoot Indians lived along the waters and the plains. There is much to know about Sacagawea and her family. York, Clark's servant, is written about too giving the reader a view of American slavery. Then, there is so much to know about Lewis and Clark and President Jefferson. Last but not least, the beauty of America is magnificently described.

Manil Suri is a very clever and wonderful author of a book not to be forgotten. The Death of Vishnu takes place in India. In the story the people who live in an apartment are introduced to us. The author magically gives the outsider the feeling that he or she also is living in this apartment. Without a doubt Manil Suri is an author worth reading again and again.

Little Scarlet happens during the infamous Watt riots of the sixties. Mr. Mosley makes you feel like you are in the center of LA waiting for the next person to come and take control of your livelihood.
He also centers on on one lady named Little Scarlet. In a matter of moments are life is snuffed out during these dreary days. I sat on the edge of my seat wanting to know why and whodunnit. Of course, Easy can figure out any mystery. Easy is intelligent and street smart. This is why he is an unforgettable character and one I hope Walter Mosley will continue to write about in his books.

This is a wonderful book. I do hope the author, Azar Nafisi, continues to write for years to come. While learning about literary books like Lolita, Pride and Prejudice and Madame Bovary, the reader also learns about Iran through the lives of the ladies who come to Azar Nafisi's home for bookclub sessions. Amazingly, these young women find identity, pleasure and freedom in reading the books of these great writers.
Their outside lives are opened to us too. The daily life these women live without having the right to wear fingernail polish, make open comments in university and thinking of ways and means to leave the country.
All along there is the constant brave spirit of Azar Nafisi. The book is beyond wonderful.

This is a light mystery more character driven than plot driven. There is an overwhelming feeling to know about Precious. Precious is a very strong lady. She has lived throught tough times in a very unhappy marriage.
Still Precious has an unbeatable spirit. She thrives on the love given to her by her father. She moves forward building her life as an entrepreneur in Botswana, Africa. She become the first lady detective.
Throughout the book there is a feeling that Africa is still rich with wonderful people and beautiful land.
