Having grown up in the Southwest, I was familiar with several Coyote tales...However, they were very censored and child appropriate...This book is an uncensored collection of Coyote folklore that will entertain, shock, and disgust you all at the same time!
This book is just simply amazing! The writing and the story both will suck you in, and spit you out in Africa...The story and conflicts are based on real situations on the dark continent, and thus you sometimes forget you are reading a Science Fiction/Fantasy piece of work! This book is great, do yourself a favor and give it a read!!!
China Mieville has done it again! It would be amazing to see a visual display of his minds eye when he is creating the worlds that he writes. However, it is nice that he paints just enough of a picture with words to guide you, yet allow a bit of your own imagination to color in the gaps. Embassytown deals heavily with the linguistic genre of alien like lifeforms, and the use of language/communication amongst the characters is brilliant and something a little different from most likely anything you have read before. I highly recommend it!
