a stunning visual and thought-provoking picture; not to be missed. Watching this movie is like entering another world, very mesmerizing. Dersu's knowledge of the outdoors far surpasses that of the "civilised" men, and he teaches them, and us, much. The blizzard scenes and Dersu's heroism and sacrifice during the blizzard is unforgettable. I saw the movie in 1976 and have never forgotten it. All of Kurosawa's films are not to be missed.
