This is the first read-out-loud book we've opened since closing out a decent mourning period for the final Harry Potter novel. And we couldn't be happier. My sons, now teenagers, loved Roddy Doyle's books for kids (The Giggler Treatment and Rover Saves Christmas) back when, and it's like Roddy is following them along, serving up just what they have an appetite for now. Great story, with Doyle's distinctive, quirky voice.
