This is an excellent installment in Lackey's Collegium Chronicles series, as well as simply an excellent book. The characters are all in top form, as is the writing. One of my favourite sci-fi/fantasy books. Great characters and great writing combine to make a totally believable story in a totally believable world that I wouldn't mind visiting for myself, if inter-book travel were possible (as in Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series, perhaps?). All the characters are three-dimensional, and it feels as if you could meet them on any street corner.
Powell's City of Books is an independent bookstore in Portland, Oregon, that fills a whole city block with more than a million new, used, and out of print books. Shop those shelves — plus literally millions more books, DVDs, and eBooks — here at Powells.com.
