This is Johan Theorin at his best. This book is haunting and completely draws you in by the haunting mystery and the rich atmosphere surrounding the island of Oland, off the Swedish coast. There is so much history attached to the manor and the lighthouses, as well as ghost stories attached to this story. Another "hard-to-put-down" book from a great author.

This debut novel, the first in a trilogy from the internationally renowned (deceased 2004) author, Stieg Larrson, is EVERYTHING great that has been written about it. This book is all these and much more: suspenseful, mesmerizing, unique, fascinating, and financial intrigue and corruption, it's a love story, it's satisfyingly complex and an extremely entertaining novel. The second novel, "The Girl Who Played With Fire" continues along the same vain and is another "page-turner"; and, I cannot wait to read the third and final trilogy, "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest".

This debut novel by Tom Rob Smith literally blew me away. It was truly a work-of-art for such a young author. It was such a fast-read for me because the action was constant and held my attention entirely. I hated to see the story end!
