I have read the reviews on this book and disagree with most of them.
Anyone with a true knowledge of the Alentejo region, history and culture would realise that Monica Ali has it exactly right!
I wonder where she gained her insight into this most peculiar part of Europe and the strange mix of characters who have now gathered there?
