Each one of Christopher Moore's books that I have had the pleasure of reading, Fluke being the latest, is funny, poignant and full of strong, intelligent women and sweet, funny and vulnerable men. Fluke is packed with weird and wonderful surprises that make it difficult to put down, leaving one wanting to know how Moore ever came up with such a crazy idea. It is a pleasure to read a book where the characters truly care about each other and about their own lives. Nate and Clay have been working as whale researchers in Hawaii for many years together and have developed a strong bond with each other and a deep love for their subject. This particular summer they find a whale of a different stripe that leads them on a funny, crazy and mind-boggling adventure. I laughed out loud, embarrassed on the bus, read as fast as I could before the next stop and gasped and wondered at the originality of this great tale.
