The Secret of Evil by Roberto Bolano
The Secret of Evil

iantrevor, August 3, 2012

Like much of his writing, nothing in The Secret of Evil feels final, but it somehow works. The book is a series of mostly very short stories that occasionally overlap but always intrigue the reader. Bolano has a knack for getting his characters (which may come from the fact that a lot of his writing seems almost too autobiographical) and he allows his readers to know the minds and thoughts of seemingly untranslatable characters.

Overall, it's a fairly quick read that is well worth the effort.
