Age of Iron by J M Coetzee
Age of Iron

idongesit, June 2, 2009

Coetzee's Age of Iron is a continuous reminder of tales of woes that bedeviled and still continues to adversely affect the native blacks and coloured peoples of Southern Africa. It is a novel that tasks everyone, with a sense of humanity, to refrain from racism, tribalism, segregation ,and other forms of injustices that continue to threaten the peaceful co-existence between people of different races.
The brutal killings by the police is an indictment of law agencies on the need to have respect for fundamental human rights and also a need for democratic/lawful processes in carrying out their duties.
I find this novel very interestng in its portrayal of the author's resistance against societal and cultural segregation that have resulted in loss of lives and properties.
