The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

I fell in love with this book from the very beginning - so many wonderful things to say about it; HOWEVER, I was completely and utterly disappointed in the ending. Not the fact that it was so heartbreaking (which it was), but it just seemed to me that the author, after spending hundreds of pages bringing us along and developing a gripping story, making us care about the characters, etc., ended things so abruptly. I had the sense that he must have just gotten tired of writing or came up against some deadline, for there was a certain point at which I just sensed he kind of threw in the towel and tied up all the lose ends as quickly as possible. Maybe there was some restriction about length? I don't know, but it honestly made me feel incredibly ripped off. Like I had invested all this time reading this HUMONGOUS book, and all this emotional energy caring about the characters, and, then, bam, one chapter and finis. Beautifully well written, but I couldn't recommend this as it seemed like a huge waste of time at the end.

One of the most amazing pop-ups I've seen. Kids will love it and so will adults. Lots of solid scientific information for those interested in more than just the eye-candy too.
