Persona poetry ��" writing in voices other than the poet's own ��" is ancient in origin and contemporary in practice. A Face to Meet the Faces: An Anthology of Contemporary Persona Poetry (Univ. of Akron Press) edited by Stacey Lynn Brown and Oliver de la Paz contains approximately 200 poems that embody characters from history, literature, mythology, and popular culture. Shaindel Beers, Carol Guess, Lois Holub, Donna Prinzmetal, Peter Ludwin, and Don Colburn, all contributors to the anthology, will join Brown and de la Paz.
