Oxford History of the United States #9: Freedom from Fear: The American People in Depression and War, 1929-1945

This book won the Pulitzer prize and rightfully so. Professor Kennedy presents an excellent synthesis of the history of the American experience during the Great Depression and the Second World War. His scholarship is only surpassed by his skill as a writer. Anyone interested in U.S. history should enjoy this comprehensive narrative.
