I was pretty unfamiliar with the period of history which makes the backdrop for this novel, and this is partly why this was such a great read. Seen through Lehane's characters, some of which read historically accurate, this bit of history came vividly alive for me. Great story amidst a fascinating backdrop. Lehane's love for Boston, no matter the outcome, shines the entire time. Definite rec.
