The Orchard: A Memoir by Theresa Weir
The Orchard: A Memoir

jess reyes, January 2, 2012

What a quick read! And it's wonderful, too. It is definitely my favorite read of 2011.

The Orchard is a memoir of living on an apple farm and the devastation that comes along with it. It uses experiences farming with chemicals and pesticides as a way to demonstrate how a farmers drive for a perfect apple can ultimately be harmful on so many levels.

But it is also a love story, one that grows for her and her husband. I could tell while reading it that it was a story that was waiting to be told, and with a book, Ms. Weir was able to re-live events in her life she either bottled up or never explored before.
