A Medieval Life: Cecilia Penifader of Brigstock, c. 1295-1344

It is an interesting read because even if you think you know how life was to the average peasant woman in medieval times this book will change your mind.

Chinaman's Chance : the Chinese on the Rocky Mountain Mining Frontier (97 Edition) by Liping Zhu
Chinaman's Chance : the Chinese on the Rocky Mountain Mining Frontier (97 Edition)

jhor0107, October 18, 2008

Overall I liked this book. It shows the other side of american life for a Chinese immigrant in the Rocky Mountain mining frontier. The faults in this book are that all the information from the book was acquired from old court records and and other records from that time so it uses a lot of numbers and that gets kind of repetitive.

1066: The Year of the Conquest by David Armin Howarth
1066: The Year of the Conquest

Unless your really into English history or the history of warfare this is a hard read. It isn't that long so that makes it a little easier. All in all it does give you a pretty good handle on the events of 1066 as well as a feel for the life of peasants and how affected them.

Farewell to Manzanar: A True Story of Japanese American Experience During and After the World War II Internment by Jeanne W Houston
Farewell to Manzanar: A True Story of Japanese American Experience During and After the World War II Internment

jhor0107, October 18, 2008

I had to read this book for a US history class and was surprised by how much I enjoyed learning about Japanese internment life. This book gives the insight into the life of Jeanne, a young Japanese American girl forced to live in Manzanar, an internment camp in the west. I loved learning about how life was and how it was affected even after the Japanese were released.

Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice
Interview with the Vampire

This prequel was pretty good but not all that I thought it would be. The story is pretty good but I don't think there is enough suspense.
