The Colossus of New York by Colson Whitehead
The Colossus of New York

joemillerii, August 19, 2007

In promoting the "Colossus of New York," you should point specifically to the essay Colson wrote for the NYT Magazine shortly after 9/11, "Lost and Found."

This essay captures the experience of being a New Yorker better than anything since E.B. White's "Here is New York," in my opinion. Since it was published, I have taken the liberty of sharing it broadly and repeatedly, and it is beloved among my circle of friends and colleagues who love literature and love New York.
