Love the excerpt from the book. As an Ultra Runner who is looking forward to doing the Western States 100, hopefully in 2013, and Badwater sometime in the future, I really appreciate Jurek's down to earth story telling qualities. It is always refreshing to read how humble the top ultra runners are and how they struggle like the rest of us. Having just completed the Nanny Goat 24 hr/100 mile trail race over Memorial Day Weekend, I can definitely relate to the challenges that are faced by Jurek and other ultra runners when it is hot and there are still many miles to go. I am looking forward to reading the whole book and remembering his tenacity when I am struggling in my next 50 miler, in 95-100 degree temps or my next training runs on the sandstone trails in Canyon Country, CA.
