Harvest or rather Tess Geritsen is one of those writers that you can't believe that you have never heard of. Despite the fact that Tess Geritsen is a bestselling author I had never heard of her before a co-worker of mine recommended The Surgeon. After reading The Surgeon I was hooked, Tess Gerritsen delivers everytime. In Harvest (her debut thriller novel) she writes with such great flow and captivation that the story reads itself, you won't be able to set it down. Harvest is great in creating characters and bringing them together. If you're anything like me who naively discriminated against crime novels or thrillers novels this is the book that will change your mind.

You don't need to be from Ohio (I'm not) or even know anything about Ohio (except that they pretty much handed the presidency to Dubya twice!) Great stories are great stories no matter what they are about or where they come from and that's what Donal Ray Pollock accomplish with his debut story collection Knockemstiff: a compilation of universally understood stories that are filled with dysfunction, intimate horror, awkardness, sadness and hope. All in one but unique from other books that promise the same. If you hated Dead Boys by Richard Lange (like I did) or didn't; You'll appriciate Knockemstiff for it's artistic value.

Dull. Hard to follow. One dimensional. If that's your type of novel than Nobody Move is right for you. I don't like crime novel's but I thought I would give this one a shot since it was suppose to be set in my hometown of Bakersfield, California but mainly the plot revolves around mentioning the city of Bakersfield and a bunch of other fictional city names. Blah. Denis Johnson seems a little cocky in his latest novel; writing as if whatever he writes is intant gold. 'But don't take my word for it.' Read it yourself. *I recommend The Devil's of Bakerfield by John Shannon.
