My original copy of Plotkin's book is ragged around the edges from use. If you're interested in Italian cuisine and do any travel to Italy, you could use this book as a travel guide just as I have. Fred Plotkin makes an excellent tour guide for culinary travel in Italy, and through the luscious descriptions of restaurants, food shops and markets, he has encouraged my itinerary to stretch well beyond the major cities. I've visited many of the places mentioned in the first edition of this book and look forward to purchasing the revised edition.
