Well written and fairly concise, this book is a real eye-opener regarding how pet food is processed and how the pet food industry is regulated in North America. I'm often a bit of a sceptic, but Martin does a fantastic job of citing her sources and providing very detailed information to back up her book. I suggest anyone even remotely interested in what they are feeding their pets read this book.

One of the most comprehensive guides to many facets of holistic animal care and recommended by numerous veterinarians and animal nutritionists, this guide has been a standard for years. I use the section on nutrition and diets most frequently, as it contains numerous recipies for both normal and specialty diets for cats and dogs.

Perry has an uncanny ability to draw humor and insight from what many people would consider mundane events and daily activities. This collection of essays pulls together his musings on a variety of topics and experiences, including a big rig/trucker gathering he crashed and a local butcher's take on life.
Whether or not you are from a small town, you will find humor and insight in Perry's writing no matter what.
