Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore
Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings

katherine stevenson, October 13, 2007

This wasn't my favorite book of Moore's, but still pretty good. An interesting imagination into why whales exist and what is really going on. I enjoyed the first part of the book much more than the last part ..but i think that is just cuz i couldn't quite get my mind around Moore's image of the underwater world. Although the killer whale folks seemed kinda creepy!

A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore
A Dirty Job

katherine stevenson, October 13, 2007

A freakin' crack-up ... if you have a good sense of humor and love imaginative stories.. this is a great read... Moore is also fantastic at merging his characters from different stories together.. you will find characters and events from Bloodsucking Fiends and You Suck ... I absolutly love it !

Also, if you have a chance to listen to the CD or audio version of this book .. it is great .. they add extra sound clips/music to it which makes it more enjoyable.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Inkheart

katherine stevenson, October 13, 2007

Ok .. i am a 30 something adult who loves juv fiction. And this is a great book. And incredible story that I think is based on a wonderful and amazing idea. I mean imagine if we could make characters come to life.

Also, Funke is german and the geography and culture included in the book is from Europe which makes the story even more interesting. If you enjoy a good imaginative story then this book is for you.

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

katherine stevenson, October 13, 2007

Great Book ... a wonderful story that finds the humor in the bible and jesus' story while still managing to portray the love and dedication of the books characters.

Yes, you must have a sense of humor to read this and you should be willing to have some sections of the bible or christ's life laughed at. Yet this book quickly protrays our characters having a great sense of humor and joy in their lives while following the quest for "joshua" to become the messia. A don't miss in my book.

You Suck: A Love Story by Christopher Moore
You Suck: A Love Story

katherine stevenson, October 13, 2007

I am probably a bit biased, since I have enjoyed every single one of Christopher Moore's books. He has a wonderful sense of humor and and imagination that probably doesn't have an end.

I do recommend reading Blood Sucking Fiends first, since You Suck is the sequal. Although the book is set up that it does stand alone. I am amazed how Moore is able to intertwine his characters and books. He uses characters and events that were also included in A Dirty Job.

If you love humor, or you just think that life is too short to take seriously .. this is a great read
