Running Loose by Chris Crutcher
Running Loose

Running Loose is one of those books that you just can’t put down! It was written in first person point of view. The book begins when Louie, the main character, was a starter on an eight man football team in a small town called Trout, Idaho. He had the best girlfriend that he could ever wish for. Everything was going good for him until catastrophe struck! His football coach ordered for an illegal hit for one of his teammates to take out a player that was on the other team. When his teammate took the other player out, Louie went off on the coach. Since he had embarrassed the whole Trout high school for doing that, he was kicked off the team by his coach. After a couple weeks, he had got a call that his girlfriend, Becky, had died from trying to dodge a kid on a motorcycle and had driven off the bridge into the water. He goes through a lot of depression during this time. After her death, he keeps going back to visit the place where they went almost every evening to be alone. He chopped a tree down that reminded him of sitting under it with her in the evenings where they would sit and talk about their lives. The book was an action packed thriller! I think this book relates to someone in a special way. I would recommend this book to young adults because of some language and some sexual content.
