Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption

kimsb, February 7, 2012

I listen to books on CD all the time and this is the best one I have ever listened to. Louis Zamperini goes through hell and back during World War II... his challenges come one after another, and he remains unbroken. This is a story for the ages. This is a powerful story everyone should read. My respect for veterans has risen to new heights. I don't know how these people survived. Some did not survive. Do not miss this book!

The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach
The Art of Fielding

It's always a thrill to find a first novel where the writer is in command and you know you are in excellent hands. Beautifully written, funny, touching, totally original. I envy anyone who is just starting it today.

Historical fiction at its best. Set pre WWII, sweeping epic and love story. Set in Budapest and Paris. Wonderful novel!

The Night Bookmobile by Audrey Niffenegger
The Night Bookmobile

kimsb, November 26, 2010

I had to read Audrey Niffenegger's new work as I adore her novel The Time Traveler's Wife. The Night Bookmobile is a graphic novel for adults that you will read in one sitting. Imagine stumbling upon a bookmobile on a late night's walk; a bookmobile that houses only books YOU have read in your lifetime. The ending will knock your socks off!
