Maybe I don't know anything about sea ice or life (and death)in the Arctic, but I could not put this book down once I got into it. I read the last half of the book in less than a day! I knew from the beginning that there were no known survivors of the real Franklin Expedition,, but was held hostage by the fascinating, if doomed, struggle of the crews of the Erebus and the Terror to live. The ending still managed to surprise, and Simmons reference to present-day events brought the story into the 21st century with a bang!(5 of 7 readers found this comment helpful)
